The above painting is my very fast attempt at capturing the atmosphere of my morning walk today. The sun was trying to burn off the clouds but the mist rising from the many canals around us was adding more to be burned off. It was the most ethereal scene hardly done credit by this painting.
One of the things I have shared in one of the over five hundred of these blogs is some of the many amusing sings I have come across in my travels. I have some more I have collected if I have repeated please forgive.
I was really amused today. This being a place of canals and tiny little river most people have boats that they use to pop to the shops or over to visit a neighbour. The roads are liable to flood and I am sure often do in the winter months.
So I expect a sign that reads," if this sign is covered in water the road is flooded." Now I suppose it would be.
But here are one or two other s you might not expect to read.
Ladies are requested not to have children in the bar. I suppose that means it is ok for men to give birth or have children there.
People are requested not to feed the animals, If any have suitable food can you please give it to the guard at the entry. Times must be hard for those guards that the wages mean they have to beg for food.
Outside a doctors surgery this notice was in place. Specialist in women and other diseases.
One that many will have seen before but yet it continue to appear. All the water in this bar has been passed by the manager. Seems that the manager is a very busy person.
Now this one I am still amused at as I write it. Cooles and heates: If you want condition of warm air in your room, please control yourself.
